if you have someone who can roll or break it to give it channels for strength or you don't care if it pops like a drum when you step on it 20 gauge in steel IMO if you are gonna weld in proper structure where you'll be stepping. how far apart are your floor supports

Oh BTW Decon the 49cc came yesterday and was just as described thanks, now I have an engine for a future motorized bike project.
Also do you happen to know what pitch that clutch sprocket is ?

expanded steel is great till you slam into a puddle thats deep deep enough to catch the grating at higher speeds lool, on the good side, you will have no problems with standing water! having a patch of expanded steel under the seat as a drain, I have considered that, but I just drilled a few 3/4" drain holes and stop trying to make it complicated for myself lool.

Thanks for all the imput guys. I decided to go with 1/16th steel plate. I just got done putting it on. The peice is 14in by 17in with no support in the middle. Ill probibly drill a few holes in it to drain water and such.

O and Cyborg i think it takes #25 chain. That was one of my problems i had with it. I know you can get another clutch for it tho that takes bigger chain
