I hav just began my first kart build. I am building the whole thing from scratch out of 1 1/4'' sqare tubing. The length of my kart is 6' and the width is 2 1/2' is this normal? I am using a 6hp Briggs, and when I measured it out on the floor these dimensons seemed right, but right now it looks kinda big. IT IS A ONE-SEATER.

6' is a pretty regular length, as for width a little skinnier for the main frame wouldn't hurt (if your planning on putting some nerf bars between the tires)

It's just a big rectangle, 30" wide" Or does it narrow in the front? If it doesn't narrow, that's gonna be quite wide by the time you leave enough room for the front wheels to steer. Perhaps 20-24" wide in the front?

30" wide in the rear might be a bit of a stretch if you plan on a 36" axle- Do you have the parts yet? I usually tell folks to get all the parts before building the frame so that things like this can be addressed.

Well, it is all built up and now that I have mocked it up with the seat and motor it doesn't look too big. I did realize that it could've been 2 feet wide instead of 2 1/2 but I think it'll be okay. I may want to put a bench seat on in the future anyway, but right now I hav a nice single seat from a 1950's international that works great.
