I haven't tested chrome on my iphone nor on my wives iPad;
it works on chrome on androids.. I see no reason why it shouldn't on ios ;)
but safari will work for sure!

Oh and you must not spoof your browser details.. if you tell the website you're a desktop pc it'll act as if you were.
so turn of the fake user agent tools if you have any.

If you're on a proxy.. tell the proxy to forward your user agent,
otherwise it'll always say you're a desktop and fail.

Hey sid,
Two quick things.
1. I tried it on safari on my iPhone 4 on ios6 and it said coming soon.
2. I have a speedo app and it was for my mini bike. Obviously I couldn't hold it and ride at the same time. Soooo, it would be super cool if you put a "max speed" thing on the Speedo. Like as in I would turn on your app, put my phone in my pocket, and take it out later, to know my all time highest speed for the day. Again, I'm just a 14yo kid, so don't take my advice to far here, just some constructive criticism for you...

Hi Sammy.

well you opened up the wrong url.
The website is not the webapp;

and you're right, I still have the "coming soon" notice on my website,
so the url is only for diygk users at this point in time ;)

it's app.kartcalc.net btw to open the webapp on your mobile device.

And No, I do not have a max speed needle on my dial
the max speed is tracked though, but curently not shown.

If you add your minibike to your local database and click on the tachometer to tach the minibike
(from your mini bike entry .. NOT the home screen)
you will still be able to see it in the end.
like so:

(the data in this screenshot are faked.. so nevermind my odd values ;))

you need to ride a few feet until the GPS has calibrated and dialed in to improve accuracy..
and once it has done so (and you clicked to start)
it will log the max speed no matter where you have your phone.
if you now leave the tach page it'll ask you if you want to save the collected data...
if you do you'll have your max speed visible.

inconvenient for you to just have an idea; i know..

I'm sorry and I'll change the speedometer behaviour in the near future since I'm not happy with it myself.
I wanted to have as little user interaction as possible... but it's not exactly intuitive.
*sigh* again: it'll get better.

But for now that is the only way I'm afraid :(

Oh no, I think your getting the wrong idea here!
It's a really sweet app, and looks really cool. It's by far the coolest speedo, tach, etc. etc. app I've ever seen! I'm just trying to throw out a suggestion.

P.S. I don't know about you guys in Germany, but over here in the U.S it's quite easy to make an app. All you have to do is pay $99 to apple, and you become like a beta tester (get all the new ios' early, etc.) and you can make apps! This is what I've heard from people that I know who have done it, it might have changed in the last 6 months.
By the way, if you put the app up for $1 I'm sure you'll have your money back in no time!!!
Again, this is just a suggestion, I like it in it's current form!
By the way, unfortunately I sold the mini bike, but my go kart should be moving by tomorrow night!:)
EDIT: Just tried it... Without moving. It's so cool!!! I love it! That max speed thing is perfect!

No, I think I understood..
and it's a valid point you have!
it's utterly difficult if you do not have a frame-fixed smartphone holder that matches your phone to use the app as a real time speedometer.

The thing is.. the speedometer is a byproduct, basically nothing but eyecandy.
it's there because I needed a way to let you (as a user) know that the app is currently
collecting data to measure your karts performance.
(and because it was there at this point I opened access -without having a background collector running- from the main screen.. again as EyeCandy!)

But the truth is I am aware that some want to use it as such,
and that's okay..
but if you do, you really should think of getting a phone holder ;)
properly mounted the data will be much more precise than if worn in a pocket too ;)

And about the developer accounts...
hehe.. yeah well.. close!

the dev kit is free, so you can make and install your apps not spending even a single dollar...
the thing is it requires buying an Apple computer.
And that is either extremeley expensive or completely pointless (the smaller macs are made to show off, not for serious work)
The one I would buy has a five figure pricetag and the shiny little "oh look I have an Apple" boxes are only good for bragging in my opinion ;).

So no, not at this point in time
no ios nor playstore app

when the webapp turns into a success I will think about it again...
for now that's not an option.

Sooo.. tested on my wives ipad (ios 6.23) today.. and blam there it goes..
the 401 popped up in chrome...
checked my user-agent setting.. and it's the standard mozilla iPad string that has been sent.. but it failed..

and even worse: now the page shows the very same error in safari too...

:eek:
Odd odder the oddest...
(that was in fact the only unmodified file!)

it's been modified and although I can't test it at this very moment, I'm pretty sure it's fixed now.

UPDATE

the calculator will now throw some error-messages in case your setup will likely produce errors

like for example:
Code:
[FONT="Verdana"]
[B][U]PROBLEMS[/U][/B]
[INDENT][I]You might burn your clutch/belt![/I]
[I]Gear ratio too high![/I]
[I]Suggested final ratio[/I]: [B] at least 5.25:1[/B]
[/INDENT]
[/FONT]

or
Code:
[FONT="Verdana"]
[B][U]PERFORMANCE[/U][/B]
[INDENT][I]Top Speed[/I]: [B] 128.74 km/h | 79.99 mph[/B]
[/INDENT]
[B][U]PROBLEMS[/U][/B]
[INDENT][I]Max-speed cannot be reached![/I]
[I]Max Speed[/I]: [B] 90.19 km/h achievable | 56.04 mph[/B]
[I]Gear ratio too high![/I]
[I]Suggested final ratio[/I]: [B] at least 4.72:1[/B]
[I]You might burn your clutch/belt![/I]
[/INDENT][/FONT]

or even
Code:
[FONT="Verdana"]
[B][U]KART[/U][/B]
[INDENT][I]RW diameter[/I]: [B] 27.94 cm | 11 in[/B]
[/INDENT]
[B][U]PROBLEMS[/U][/B]
[INDENT][I]Axle sprocket might get too big![/I]
[I]Sprocket diameters[/I]: [B](#35): 8.64" & (#40):11.52"[/B]
[/INDENT]
[/FONT]

starts to warn as soon as the #40 sprocket doesn't have 3/4" of ground clearance anymore.
So you might need a jackshaft.

Tried your app today and it didn't look as nice as all the screen shots.

Not sure how i'm doing anything different than you are:

Opened Safari on my iphone 5 running ios 7.1.1
Went to URL: app.kartcalc.net

And this is what i see:

Also it always me type in and save, but doesn't seem to work. Keeps just reloading the page when i tried to hit save or calculate.

Thoughts? (although i have never used a web app, i work with cellphones all day long as a tech support rep of a software company)

well that's what the page looks like as long as the core isn't loaded (that'd be jqtouch)
since that's the second script that will be laoded it should correct the layout in only a few milliseconds.

without the corescript NONE of the functions will work I'm afraid...

I've seen that behaviour ONCE though (where it failed to load the framework)
I can't recall which browser it was.. some desktop for sure...
And something similar looking on my wife's iPad (ios 6.2.3) prior to the second to last update. (~ a week ago)

I rechecked the code today on two different iPhones with ios 7 and 7.1 (not 7.1.1 IIRC;)) and there haven't been any issues.

reload the site and see if the update is triggered (should alert you within a few seconds)
if not there isn't much I can do from here;
You need to clear the webstorage on your device for my url.
That is a big PITA on my iPhone (ios 5.0) and I'm not really confident to say it's better on yours.
but as long as there's one of the two cores is missing (well core and framework that is)
it will act up like that.

I'm sorry I see if there's anything left I can do to fix that from here.

Posting is the "title" of the page your seeing ;)

The page says: Select, Copy & Paste, and that's what you should do;
the App itself is NOT connected to any forum (not even this one) and of course it cannot post your kart details in your name anywhere;
it just provides you with a forum-bbcode formatted text you can use to show your kart to someone else without using screenshots.

that'd be your kart btw:

Oh dear.. I a unicode conversion error... Shirt! (orange, v-neck ;))
how did that slipped past me earlier?!?!?!

Now your engine is not exactly supported by the app as you can see..
8000 rpm is most likely the stock rpm on a gilera runner..
since the app 'assumes' a stock 3600 rpm for our industrial engines we commonly use,
you should remove the "governor removed" to get a better assumption.
(that's why your hp assumption drops to 14hp)
But I'm glad it still seems to match your acceleration and torque values
(keep in mind the 'tached' data is "at the wheel" which is in the realm of 80% of the engine power)
I will clearify the output in the near future to take the efficiency ratios into account.
But I need more shared karts to do so :(

Is there a site that does what this app does minus the measurements parts... just the mathematicals. I know theres a bunch of separate sites that together will give the info wanted... but how bout an all in one site?... like I said minus the measurements... just the calculations under mathematical processes.

... or is 'that' still under-constuction(on your site) and awaiting your attention?

Thanks Sid...

I got another problem...

If you see my kart, I got engine from scooter, with built TC, i do not now type... But I know that on topspeed it got ratio 6:1 so I selected option tc with jackshaft, but that is not realy what i have...
Still, I love your app
Hopfuly, there is not going to rain today so I can push kart bit more ( slicks and standing water do not mach for some reason :p )
