As a few people were saying, and I'm not sure if anybody dug deeper into this aspect but do you have a governor on the engine which limits it to 3600rpm? They are on there stock so unless the engine has been changed or is weird then it should be there. By removing that you will increase your top speed because the engine will spin faster. Should get around 10mph more going by the speed calc

Thanks for everyone's help so far! I was doing some adding of prices and found out it will be around 314 to get it going. A bit more than i was planning, but oh well. It should be awesome. Any ideas or suggestions are open as to what else i should do.

Skip the #40 chain and go for the narrower 41 chain. I ran into problems with the 40 chain master link hitting things it shouldn't have, and the chain was quite a bit wider than all of my 41 sprockets which made everything wiggle around more than it should have. It was just sloppy. Replaced the 40 chain with 41 - everything was beautiful.

#41 chain rocks - as long as you have #41 sprockets!

If i get a new clutch, with the 72t sprocket, should a 17t clutch be alright? If not a 14t should be right?

your parts list looks good so far. 35 chain similar to bicycle chain. 40 chain helps if your sprokets arent perfectly lined up all the way plus you can use 40 chain on 41 sprockets.

don't go with #40, go with #41 chain and make sure everything is aligned properly! :)

and yeah, get a 10t sprocket for your clutch. 72t for the axle, and you'll have plenty of torque. :)

As i said somewhere here on this forum building a go kart with my own hands doesn't seem to me as a great oportunity to enjoy my free time. It was a really disaster when i tried it, and after this i bought a new one.
But i still continue to read with big pleasure others experience, and maybegas go kartssomeday i will do it...

Okay, so now i will be having a TC, BUT I was gonna put an alternator on it. Now that i won't have room on the engine shaft, can i do like a reverse jack shaft sort of thing? or would that work?
