Ok, its lowered down 1". I think it looks good, and im not changing it. I also tried to get the PTO clutch off the engine, didnt work out so well, i snapped my hammer and made no progress.
Its got a gap now since i trimmed it down, so i guess thats just more bondo work.
Broke the hammer, was trying to pry off the PTO clutch.

Freakboy, i was planning on tossin some 4" door speakers and a alpine head unit in there, i got a sub too, i need an amp tho.

You need a mono sub amp, or a bridgeable 2 chan amp, and a headunit or smaller amp to power some mids.
So i changed paint plans again, everyone i know says i should go with a dukes of hazard style paint job. I might, but it sounds hard.

Under the seat theres a good amount of room that i could fit a sub in. That is if i dont use a 700 series tranny and live axle.

I think you should put a Geo Metro engine and trans in it, could easily work, the radiator is barly 1x1 ft.
Man it would be so under powered its not even funny.

Well, my drawing sucked, anyhow, my idea was to recess the scoop, all you would have to do is cut a few lines, then bend it down and weld in sides. IF that makes sense.

that would be sick, but theres a major clearance issue with that. My hood has a support/air guide for the engine, its pretty much just a duct to allow air to go directly from the vents that were on there as stock to the flywheel. Anyways, its pretty much the only thing holding the hood together.
Plus i already welded this on, and just got in from finishing the bondo shaping, im almost done just need to get a few more rough spots.
Yea, polaris storms 750's put out 140hp stock, and over 150hp stock for the 800's. If i were to put any other engine in this thing, i would probably just fix my storm 750 engine, but im happy with the kawi in there now, it runs real smooth.
Ok, hood scoop is just about ready for paint, just a bit more sanding, but its a bit late to fire up the air compressor.

dude that muffler is kewl as hell. how hard was it to weld up? did u run the pipe all the way through the can? u could prolly sell those n make some money ..i for one would buy one..

This was the second one i made, so its more perfected than the first. The pipe going through is two pieces, one piece thats probably about 1 3/16 OD, which is welded to a piece that is about 1" OD. This makes sure the pipe doesnt slip out one end, plus its a snug fit. The pipe is baffled and blocked off so it is essentially two pieces, but stronger. If you want i can whip up another with progress pics of how i did it.

How well does the muffler kill the sound ?? I was thinking of making something similar but stuffing mine with some really course dish washing steel wool I can get from work ,
These scrubbers can be pulled apart to surround the exit pipe in the muffler , in my younger days we use to cut off our mufflers in our cars and stuff 2 of these in each exhaust pipe , lol , was loud but sounded Sweet

It muffles ok, but not great. Its a step above a straight pipe, but a few steps below a muffler. What made me decide to make one, was when i made my shifter kart, but didnt want to straight pipe it because it didnt sound great, but the stock muffler was VERY restrictive (this was a 100cc 4 stroke and the muffler was like 4 feet long not including the header) so i made a little head and welded this thing on, made it sound pretty nice.
Ok here are some pics of the internals, sorry tim i dont actually have another empty can so i cant make a new one now. The welds on this suck, i know, i made it when i was just learning to weld.
Top of your average paint can, i just pried the valve part off with a screwdriver, it can be a ***** to get off, just take your time.
Heres the one i removed the valve part from, it has a nice strong flange to it.
And the bottom of the can, i just used a sheet rock knife and cut it out.
Heres the pipe assembly that i made to slide right in.
Its two pieces, one longer piece, that has a larger OD, i cut it off a bike frame. At the end i welded a slightly smaller OD pipe to it that fit snugly in the top of the paint can. The step up in pipe stops the pipe from sliding up.
About halfway down the larger pipe, i cut a chunk out of it.
Inside where i cut out, i welded a washer in on either side, and globbed it up so it was air tight.
On either side of the "plug" that i made (chunk cut out with washers welded in) i cut a lot of slits with a hacksaw, like the bevels in a car exhaust.
And thats about it. The can is very thin, and i cant weld it with my flux core wire. If you had some good .023 mig wire and gas, im sure you could carefully weld it.
