Just so I'll Know, why the illusion of 2 sets of Teeth on Sprocket these days?

I've seen these clutches on amazon and ebay that APPEAR to have 2 sets of teeth when in reality only 1 of the sets can be used. Like one of them is half way in the clutch but the one the chain goes to if fully on the outside so it can be used. This has always puzzled me. We didn't have this kind 50 yr's ago...LOl...I really don't see any use in it. There use just to be a space between the teeth and the clutch cover because I remember many times having to take the chain out between there. Could it be to in some way stop that? But looks like you might end up with more broken chains that way.... Just wondering for myself... Thanks...

See that snapring on the outside of the double sprockets? I'm sure it allows for flipping the double sprockets assembly over. Count the teeth on the 2 sprockets separately, I think you'll find a 12-tooth and a 10-tooth.

I have one of the Amazon ones in 12T. I have it off right now to oil the bushing but the center section and I guess you’d call the bell are 2 different pieces. The bell is splined to the center section so they are locked together while spinning. The outside second set of teeth and the inner snap ring hold the bell from moving and the roller chain pins kinda ride between the teeth if that makes any sense ?? I’m assuming old style ones were one solid piece probably a cheaper manufacturing thing.

The two photo's shown appear (?) to have different width teeth.
Maybe to get flipped around for different sized chain?

No you cannot flip the sprocket, and both sets are the same tooth count and pitch for a reason.

It's done simply to reduce machining steps and ultimately cost, hob all the teeth out in one shot, and just turn down part of the "second sprocket" to fit the snap ring and go.
