Hello,

I've always wanted a gokart since I was a kid looking through a sears catalog. I was fascinated with the 2 seater, mostly because I dreamed of picking up my girlfriend (at 10 yrs old).

I think I found a goodie, craigslist find, when you're always searching then stop for a while, then all of the sudden.

I need help identifying, and next steps.

It has a Tecumseh 5hp

Take a lot of pics, Take it apart, Clean it up, Put it back together.

The engine... well does it run?

Thx for all the help.

Yes minimal rust, runs ok, needs a thorough cleaning.

Degreased it a bit, new fuel line, and a spark plug, and the kids drove around the block all weekend!

A little history....

I purchased from a guy in mid city who told me about how he acquired the kart years ago from a guy in Beverly Hills. He said he did a few hours of yard work at the house and received this as payment...Prob some little rich kids toy back in the day...

Is there any way to tell what year?

Is there any decals left on the kart? Sometimes a manufacturer will have a serial number and date on a decal/sticker if they have survived.

If not, you can narrow the date down to when the engine was manufactured which will give you a ball park figure, roughly assuming the engine is original. Are there labels on the engine you can read?

Amazing that you bought a complete kart and it is now running. That rarely happens--you must be an engine wiz. :wai:

How did you solve the seat cushion problem? The vinyl seats rarely survive on these old karts but I am aiming to have a factory/OEM appearance on my karts with missing seats...

...so I was wondering what you did on yours.

Did a little work tonight, runs like a beast!

I opted to buy the $60 carb from BMI, saw a few videos the generic one was a ****storm.
Popped on an airfilter and changed the cent-clutch out

Found the tag underneath, and has the numbers

That's great news! :wai:

Aftermarket carbs are cheap and a similar one to yours no doubt can be had for...$12 practically.

That might be the thing to do with Tecumseh engines. Buy a new carburetor. The rest of the engine is fine, just the carbs suck as they are very finicky with less than optimal gasoline or any kind of mishandling, goofball mechanics, idiots, etc., which is my guess.

Huh?

I do not understand the statement.

Regardless, try to provide more helpful content to your thread hijacking instead of just slights and boorish insults.

Hey Guys,

I wanna get a new set of tires and rims, the Originals are pretty beat up.

I've been looking, but I'm not sure what I should use, or what size to get.

Any help is much appreciated!
