Hi all,

So I just picked up a 2015 mudhead 208r and it needs tires.
The stock size are:
front - 16x6-8
rear - 16x7-8

two questions - can i put a 16x6.5-8 tire on both rims? they would be 1/2 wider than stock front and 1/2 inch narrower than stock rear?

Also - what would be my impact to moving to a set of 18" tall tires? I know top end would be higher but how much would I lose on low end?

Thanks,
Joe

you gain 18/16 of top speed in case the engine has enough torque
(current speed times 1.125)
you'll loose 18/16 of torque (max torque divided by 1.125)
The critical part is take off torque of course (torque at clutch engagement speed)
same rule, maybe different value.
if it works I can't tell.. BUT if you increase the rear axle sprocket by 18/16 again (1.125 times the original toothcount) you'll be back in business ;)

See the pattern?

You can very likely mount 6.5 width all around..
it depends on rim width and section height of the tyre..
but assuming your rims front and back are identical in width anyways,
I see no problem there ;)

that makes sense. appreciate the info.
as for rim width - I don't know if they are identical. Can't find anything on line about rim size - just tire size I pick up the buggy tomorrow so I can't dismount them and check right now. I would assume that getting a tire that is 1/2 between both should work.....(famous last words)
