So had a question . I've been playing with the gear & speed calculator and it not giving me the speed that the cart is going . Average top speed is 36-37 mph so far ,With one time hitting 39 mph on pretty flat ground . The calculator is saying I should be hitting the 25 mph area . Maybe I'm putting the info in wrong or something. Clutch & sprocket are 12-80 combo with 15x6-6 rear tires . Only mods is custom header, spark plug regapped . Throttle stop screw turned all the way out and running 93 octane if you count that lol ( my trailblazer ss and turbo rx7 have to run it so a extra gallon in a can when I'm there for the cart isn't breaking my pockets ) . In the end I'm not complaining . Just thought I may change the bigger sprocket to a smaller count for a lil clearance and the fact that it's a one wheel spin of death from a stop . Governor has not been removed either . Thanks guys for any insight on that .

As far as updates . Got new rear tires . Painted the headlight glass housings yellow . And oldest son curb checked the wheel and bent the tie rod mount at the spindle ( already fixed ) . Possibly getting another kart in the next week or so from a friend's friend that has like 7 of them laying around . Also getting 2 engines from another friend for free . Says one is a fun sports engine and the other can't tell and still have the stock lil subaru robin ex13. So I got a choice of a lot of stuff for the next build :)

You might find that you are going faster because you have bumped up your RPM's a bit

Here's the only way I can get my mph to match with the calculator on the bmi site

There's no way it's hitting 5500 rpm from adjusting a throttle stop screw .

did you double-check the tooth count on your sprockets? 80t sounds a bit high with 15" tires (but not unheard of). maybe you have a 15t driver sprocket?

Countless times now lol I'm a mechanic at a transmission shop by profession and always double if not triple check when it comes to counting gears .

I had that same kart a few years ago, it went 22-24 mph max.... How are you measuring your speed? (e.g. smart phone free speedometer)

Yes which the last time I checked was died on with my garman gps In my ss . I'll grab my gps out the truck and do a few runs though and get back to you guys . Now with the old subaru ex13 it did only 23-24 but since this motor it's gained speed for sure .

Well still Rollin . Got a new tire today along with a new muffler to tone it down a lil . It's for a 9-16 hp Briggs motor with one inch pipe thread . Looks like a shower head lol
