Good day. Just joined. I am a shop teacher. Have alot of experience with autos+electric cars+welding+CAD. Alot of DIY stuff. Hope to be of help and actually looking for some help.
Got ahold of an older 'Murray' go kart. White with roll bars. Somehow they put on a #40 chain with jackshaft? It needs some TLC. Thats no problem. But the engine is. Cannot see what it is. Might be 6hp. Thats what the internet says. Air filter canister has japanese on it. Maybe its a Kaw?
Know Murray was bought by Briggs in 2004/5. Does anyone know the engine on these or might know where to get manual or any tech info?

Here is a pic of what I have.
Not as nice as this is but the same thing. Might be a wisconsin engine, but not sure.

SobSmj here again.

Found it! It is a 2004 Murray GC. BUT, the pdf plans I found did not indicate what engine it was. It only said 6HP. Does anyone know what engine that is and if+where I can get parts/parts list etc.

I have a murray go kart(not the same as the picture), but the engine could be from anything. You never now if someone put a different engine on it. Take a few close up pictures of the engine so someone here can ID it. This is really the only chance you will have of someone here helping you.

Here are murray engine pics gentlemen.

The white sticker on it looks like a blue horse?
And it is faint but it looks like it says Wisconsin and something that starts with R?
The alum. sticker on it is completely worn out. And there are no stamps on the shroud like on Briggs.

OH! Wisconsin-Robin! Interesting! (See? That's why we insist on pics 'round here!)

Odd, I don't think that was the original engine. Keyword here is "think". Someone here may know better. If there are absolutely no identifying marks, we may have to resort to a Google image search to ID it...

thanks Toystory!

I could not see that R word after that Wisconsin.
Anyway, I have a small engine pal nearby. I am going to take it into him for a look see.
At least I have it narrowed down. Might be a 6hp.
Thanks again

Looks like he's right (based on the research I just did). Wisconson Industrial Products look like they may now be owned by Subaru so that engine would be pretty old.

I agree. The googling I did came up with the same look engine as well as the horse logo thing. I found an engine that looked like this one, and it was 8HP
