I have a go kart that jerks back and fourth when i let go of the throttle. It started this when The spring in the clutch came out , and I crashed it. I put a new clutch in it. I started to drive it and it jerks. Do you know whats wrong with it? Thanks for the help.

Could be a bad wheel bearing or the chain needing lubrication. Get it up on blocks & rotate the drive wheel by hand to see if that is where the problem could be. Disconnect the chain to isolate the cause.

So whats the motor and kart setup, first?

Can you be a little more specific about the surging you speak of.

I know Doug ;)

But I have the feeling that the belt isn't something the newest of newbie could miss not even by accident if he puts in a new clutch ...

But you're right, let's just see ;)

My go kart has the motor in the back. Its roughly a 5 hp motor. I would take a pic of it but it is berried in the shed. Ill take and post a pic when I can get it out or when the snow melts.
