Hi Guys,

Just got a blast led 40 series reverse gearbox. The keyway is a ball hair wider than the 3/16 it's supposed to be.

There is noticeable slop so it won't last. If I got a 1/4 key stock and try to file it down I would have to do both sides and can't imagine it will turn out too good.

Is my only option to see if my local machine shop could cut me one?

Would laying down a piece of aluminum can and then hammer the 3/16 key into it, last?

Will end up being an expensive key.

I have ordered some 5mm key stock and then I only have to file down the other side. I have a small belt sander so will also give that a shot.
To anyone coming across a similar problem...

I would not attempt to do this with a hand file, unless you have no other option. I tried for a short time and did not enjoy myself :ROFLMAO: My small air belt sander did the trick with a 330 grit belt. I practiced on 1 of the smaller pieces of key stock and then did it for real the second time on 1 of the larger pieces.

I laid the stock down into the shaft and then ran a sharpie along the key stock to see where it needed reducing. Sand a little and check....until it fits. Didn't take too long and was easier than I had imagined.
