Jack shaft Gear ratio help.

My clutch has 10 teeth to 18 teeth on the jackshaft input then to 10 teeth on the jackshaft output to a 54 on the axle.. i dont get a very good take off and id like to know how a could increase my takeoff speed. I also have 18" tires and a honda gx160 clone ungoverned

smaller tyres or larger sprocket on your axle this would increase acceleration but reduce top end speed.

thanks, and also everytime i take my cart for a drive when i get back my chain is loose i push the engine forward and tighten that bolt but then its loose after i take it for another ride ..it seem no matter what i do the chain keep coming loose

how loose, should have 1/4" play. what kind of nuts are you using, you should be using nylon locking nuts or some loctite.

I'm useing nylon locking nuts and when i tighten it it has 1/4 of play but when im done riding it i look back there and there like 2 inches of play

you might want to replace your nuts, they can loose there locking ability if you use them to much. check your sprockets to see if they are bent or out of alignment.

The nuts and bolts are brand new becuase the old ones where mangled ive checked the sprockets they dont seem to be bent ill have to check the alignment tommrow, as it is 3:30 here.

Make sure you get the bolts REALLY TIGHT. You should use grade 8 so you dont break them.

Your half wrong there dude! Bigger sprocket for greater accelertation but smaller tires would also help with that
