iv'e got a problem

i found this realy cheap 2 cycle 4hp 3600rpm tecumseh
but it has a steped shaft, and i dont know if i can get a 5/8 inch clutch on here because there is only .9 inches of 5/8 shaft

here are the specs
0.6688" dia. x 1-1/2"
5/8" dia x 0.9"


any body got some suggestions?

You could take out the crank and get the other part of the shaft machined down to 5/8.

That's why they're cheap. Expensive to get it machined.

I might get yelled at for this, but you could probably get away with taking a 5/8" clutch, (the type with the 2 set screws) and securely bolting it onto the shaft with the drive sprocket side "out". I had a little "weirdo" B/S 3hp with a similar set-up, and it never gave me problems, used that way. Do so at your own risk, of course. If you seat it securely against the step in the shaft, that should help to keep the clutch true.
