made the man an offer from what i saw, plus, i knew it had been sittin up, and it had a few hidden issues. wouldn't run, wouldn't charge, wiring issues, just a bunch of little stuff.

it's gonna go through some changes, with all kinds of different little projects like, the steering wheel, horn project. collecting parts for some changes to it, while i'm fixin the issues.

changed the sound, and put an unregulated system on, for now

then i started on the rear, changed the tail lights, removed the spare tire and rack, and the rear deck lid, and bumper are next. those are gonna take a little planning.

That is a very slick cart . I really hope I get a chance to build one of those some day .

Did you ever consider no bumper ? Perhaps rpunding those fenders a bit ? Might clean it up a tad. Looks amazing though so far . Watching this one closely

it's an old fiberglass one from the late 70 to early 80s.i'll be posting more pics, as i go along. didn't get a chance to do anything, but order the wheel, axle change over, and yes, i have thought about the bumpers, but hat'st another one of them projects, my son in law is workin on that. more to come.

i'll clean it later, too much work to do, right now.

sold the coke cart, today, for 850, to an auction house, hhhmmmm, wonder why they bought it, without trying to get me down, they asked, but didn't push it, when i wouldn't.

got to do a little more to it today, but didn't get any pics, guess i'll do that, later.

new steering wheel set up, with horn button on steering wheel, and replaced the 3 magnet flywheel, with the 5 magnet one, and got it all put back together.

more 2 come,

don't think i'm gonna do the lettering, just yet. i did ask about yellow letters, but he mentioned a dye. don't know about that. the rest of the stuff should be here soon

i think i'm gonna make a small dash to finish out the steering wheel, so it won't look like it just stops in mid air.

well, found another project to do in my wheel change project, got the new hubs on, with the timken bearings, got it all cleaned and painted, so i would be ready for the new front wheels, and noticed about a 1/2" of loose play in the steering, only to find the antiquated rack and pinion steering with the loose play, being the gap between the teeth, so, another to do on the list, for later projects to fix.

You may be able to revive that steering system with new bushings. If the esisting bushings are worn, it will cause excessive lash between the gears, and therefore slop.

already checked, this setup doesn't have bushings, and checked it for loose motion in all directions, and the only play i found, was between the teeth, in the gears.

i'm thinking about getting a new rack and pinion assembly, and making it fit, but it all is going to have to wait til i get the other projects on it finished, first.

I remember when I was really little, maybe 5 or 6 years old, there were a few karts like that one for sale at car dealerships.
Full body and many details, they were (as I remember my father saying) the most expensive toys available, almost half the price of a brand new (1990-1991) Honda Civic.
I never had the chance of even sitting in one but I wanted one more than anything else, of course it was impossible at that time.
And quite ironically this was the initial reason why I'm now trying to build my own bodied kart, because I couldn't own one when I was a kid. :wai:

I'm really interested in seeing how yours will look when it's finished.
Keep up the good work, crazy4carts.

yea,

this is probably as close to a classic car, as i'm gonna get, but, i guess, it's gonna be my little money pit, cause, i have plans for a stereo, too.
