But not for long, I finally got my sons kart up and running (test drove it up and down the alley a couple times) and then immediately tore it apart so i could strip it and paint it. He wanted it blue with red seats. That is him helping me tear it apart with his little tool box full of wrenches and screwdrivers..haha. I am painting it Cobalt Blue Metallic, i need to pick up another can tomorrow on my way home and go over a few spots one more time. other than that she is just about ready to put back together. Pictures of our progress this weekend.

I had to go with different wheels on the front so i had to add a 3/4" spacer.

Gettin the motor setup for a test run. I had to rebuild the clutch first. It was wanting to grab at idle sometimes. I also picked up some stuff to hopefully fix the back of that seat.

Are those welds with the HF mig welder using flux core? If so is it the wire that comes with the machine? Those welds look pretty nice.

The paint is cobalt blue metallic.

Oh, gotcha. I thought you extended the stub at the base. I've got one of those welders but have yet to try it.

That is lookin good, One thing though be easy on those front wheels, the hubs tend to pull out of them with a lot of side load. They will work for awhile but the bearings and tires will wear out fast. Great lookin kart

I hope he does remember it for a little while at least. As for the wheels, they were a last resort. If he likes it and wants to ride it more often than not i will probably upgrade this Kart to a chain drive and upgrade all the wheels and tires.

Its almost done. Just got to install the pedals, hook up and adjust the brakes and throttle. I think it turned out pretty nice for all that i spent on it.

I was going to say something about the wheels, but you beat me to it. I wouldnt waste money on the tires if he wont ride it much. If you do, however, please let us know what you put on.

I want my project to be similar to yours, without the painting part, except mine to hold a 208lb guy.

Thanks guys. I might go ahead and order some slicks to match the rears but that will fit the front rims... That is if he is really interested in riding it more than once.

see how the wheels hold up. for me, they were on a pocket bike, going over grass at about 15mph. and lasted probably a half hour to 45 minutes total life span before i could see the inner tube coming out.
