So you have to get a permit to have a wood stove??? Why?

It's mostly to ensure it's properly installed and not going to burn your house down.

Just like plumbing, electrical, and building permits.

Can anyone answer with confidence- does each section of STOVE pipe need to be screwed together? It seems screws are intended for the collar- the first piece at the stove itself, but not really anywhere else

I'm pretty sure it does...
I remember from the sheetmetal factory days, a few years ago pretty much everything hvac and exhaust was screwed...

I know B-vent pipe does... But that's a double wall flue pipe...
