Is this thing toast?

Can you weld? Do you know anyone who can? Can you post a pic from underneath the engine plate?

No it is not Toast. Easy fix about $109.00

even if you cannot weld nor know anyone that can,
that should still be an easy fix (ugly though) just find a tube that snuggly fits over your tube; carefully bend the longer side up until you can slip the new tube on (about 5 inches should do) bend it back down and roughly center it over the crack.
if it's a snug fit all that's left now is to lock the outer tube in place on both ends with a bolt or better grub screw.
then seal the edges with silicone to prevent water eating it from the inside.

It's ugly and it's "red neck craftmanship" at best... but it'll hold for a while.

Another way of fixing that would be a tubing clamp made for Go Kart cross bars..
but to be honest, all I know are metric (30, 32 or 33mm tubes)

commonly used on many race kart chassis...
slip it over clamp it down and you'll be good.

The much better option IMHO is to reweld the tube -as already being said- and repaint.
Either you can DIY or you can ask a friend with a welder to do that for you

I hope these work sorry. Yes I have that welder chance, my brother gave it to me when he moved but im clueless as to what im doing. Thought it would be better to pay someone who knows what he is doing for thirty minutes of their time if it's worthwhile

If you have a welder, USE IT! Take the time to get to know it & learn how it works, watch some youtube vids & you'll be welding like a pro in no time... you'll thank me for it later...

Good advice from Fabroman, If you have that welder learn to use it. It will be a great piece of knowledge and handiness for the rest of your life. Here is a good bit of tips from the forum.

Unfortunately, itsid's advice won't work because the engine mount is welded to the tube at the same location as the crack so, what you need to do is make an internal sleeve; follow the same procedure but, instead of a new piece on the outside (as itsid suggested) you'll need to fit a new piece on the inside of the existing tube, then weld the three pieces to each other...

It is welded up on the ends. No way to get another bar inside. Is that bad juju?

I'd just be safe and weld it. SURELY there's someone around your place who can help you weld it. Should only take 10 minutes.

I think fabro was reffering to the "Bend the tube" part. Then slip pipe inside not out side. But just follow sids second option Get it welded.
