Is this sound mean the starter is dead

Help meeee!!!!!!!

Gokart makes a clanking sound when turning the key and the engine will not start. its a gokart with a gx340 11hp honda engine

Sounds like you need to pack up that 340 and send it to me.

Sorry I cant help you. I was going to say something else but I for got what it was...

Start with the battery & work your way to the starter motor; bench test it to see that it's working.

Also, have you tried turning the engine by hand? It's a long shot but it may be seized or locked up somehow...

Use the pull starter, that'll tell you if the problem is the starter motor or the engine
