I was talking with a guy i work with the other day about the 2 karts i have and he told me he has one he bought in dallas a few years back .He said the left front hub is broken but he has 2 new hubs for it .It didnt have a engine on it when he bought it so he went and bought another engine but never put it on its still in the box from what he told me its a 5.5hp but he couldnt remember what brand but he said its the same color as the frame , he said he would sell it to me .He wants 150 for the frame and 100 for the motor im just not sure if the frame is worth 150, hes supposed to get me a pic of the motor in the next day or 2,if any can tell me what kind of kart it is and if its worth what hes asking for it ,i would greatly appreciate it.

Personally, I don't think it's worth $150 either. From what I can see, it has no brakes (but there could be a band drum on the drive wheel). Is that a CVT driven I see or just a pulley? If it's a driven, it's gonna cost you for a driver...

If the engine is the same colour as the frame, chances are it's a greyhound, predecessor to the predator (did I get that right?)

So, $250 for 3/4 of a kart that you'll have to spend a few dollars & a few hours on, I'd pass...

he said it has a band brake and does work and i think its just a pulley,i forgot to put this in the first post he said that the front end was connected by a bolt on the very front of the frame which allow the front to move separate from the frame i have never seen one with a set up like that,so what would be a good counter offer?

A kart with a removable front end showed up on the forum acaouple months ago. Was it ML-toys or qtband? I'm not sure.

I'd trya nd barter down if you really want it. 150 is just a bit too much IMO for all it needs.

Nope, It was mine. It is an old Carter Super Wheels. It is identical to mine. I paid $50 for mine with no motor and got a new predator for $94.96. Front hubs are easy to replace but the rear hubs are a bear to find in good shape. I am in the process of making one to replace the bad one I have. I would probably go $80 tops on that frame because everything is obsolete for it and you will have to fab up or use inadequite universal parts for it. I'll bump my build so you can see what I went through. Its in the photo gallery section

I love those older Carter karts. If you want a project its worth that price.

You an easily replace the belt drive pulley with a chain drive sprocket. This gives you great gearing options. See if he'll go 120 on the frame by itself and go get a different engine.

I'd go get a new predator for 100 if he's charging you a hundred for the older model... When those grayhouds went on clearance they were as cheap as 60 dollars.

Also agree with a different motor. I heard the greyhounds have a bit harder of a throttle to hook up. The predator is 6.5 hp compared to the 5.5hp hes selling for the same price. Also the predator can be hooked up easily and all you have to add is the throttle return spring.

If it is worth it to you then I say get it for $100. It is actally a very nice cart now that I have changed the sprockets up to get taking off and top end feeling pretty good. I plan on getting a kit from AGK to liven it up a little more this winter when it isnt getting ridden.

I have a 12t clutch drive to a 20t JS then 12t JS to a 48t axle sprocket. I think it is around 7.5:1 ratio. I dont know what the topend is but it feels like it just keeps pulling. I need to run it next to my car to see what it is doing. So I can see if it acually improves with kit from agk.

Your gearing is (20/12)*(48/12) = 6.66:1 Not 7.5:1
