I cannot believe how close you came to completely screwing yourself out of a great deal, and yet still managed to pull it out! That won't happen again.

Speaking of "happen", what happened? You said the kart you spotted on your first visit appeared way too small- was it a different unit you spied, or did you just horribly misjudge it?

the only thing so far that i needed to buy was the pull cord for the motor, he said it runs with no problems, so tomorrow or tonight :D ill try to fire it up.

he told me it needed a clutch but there is one there and he said it worked when i got there so hopefully its just a pull cord i need

lol yeah about that, the tiny kart was his nephews kart. so yes i did just about totally screw myself. a netbook for that kart is a deal, i paid 509 for the computer but it was 4-5 years ago and i used the heck out of it, a pawn shop would have only given $50 for it.

there seems to be nothing wrong at all with the kart as a whole, the motor ill let you know about shortly, looks like kiddo is going to be falling asleep shortly so ill slip out back and try it out :D im pretty excited

Nope, it's a live axle...

Score!!!

How does it run?
Was it worth the 12 hours of driving?

It doesn't look too uncomfortable on the roof... It could've been worse, you could've owned a hatchback :roflol:
i would say well worth the 12 hours driving, seeing i was gonna trade or sell the netbook for $100 I am a happy manchild right now

Sorry, no street karts. My hobby is to get these and fix all that's wrong and then sell them. Now, I've got my son-in-law in on it!
thats how i got into it, so that i could pay the rent when layed off, i just aint so good at the fixing them part. I got a motorized toy graveyard basically, or a junkyard as the wife calls it.

do you ever take time and ride them a bit before you sell them???

I give each one a good test drive. :wai: Except the little ones. I have a kid down the street who comes up and tests those. I've gotten pretty good at it but I need to sell some. I'm up to 9 in the garage now.

nice, i need to get rid of a minibike and a couple pocketbikes cause the old lady is nagging about all the "junk" in the back yard and i dont want to get rid of any go karts YET. If i can ever get any of these OHV motors i have to run i want to try to race at least a couple times. but i do sell anything i need to when rent is due but so far the go karts have made it through.

do you ever do work on mini-pocketbikes ??

also

have you ever done any work with torque converters?

No pocket rocket stuff, but I deal with torque converters all the time. Just cleaned up an old one yesterday.

i found this diagram, not sure what it is because they dont actually name the karts just have numbers. does anybody know if this is mine or where i can get the original diagram of my murray Kilowatt (at least thats what i think it is) hoping someone here has a kilowatt or knows alot about them and can help me find the original, because i have no idea how to put the torque converter on, and i have a box of comet parts that i think is complete or near complete and i would like to get it as close to stock as possible.

It's definitely a Murray but I can't get the model.

As for stock drive system, unless someone here has one, that's not gonna be easy as stock has a cover as seen in pic below

Here's a vid that may help:

yes that looks just like my kart and your right its gonna be hard to replace that cover. any ideas on where i could start looking??? do they have any second hand kart parts website? i havnt had any luck finding much on the kart, good thing it seems to be in great condition, except the motor not firing.

where would i post an ad looking for someone to work on my motor, seeing i just cant seem to get this thing to run. im pretty sure i set the valve lash properly but who knows, im not very much a mechanic, i just started tinkering a few months ago and now i have 7 different projects. im running out of bins to put all the parts i have left over after i take them apart and put them back together
