I found a vintage west bend on eBay for $450, and I’m wondering if it’s a good deal. It turns over, doesn’t appear to run, but overall seems like a solid motor. I would love some more info

Yea, that sure does seem like a good deal. Even has a carb too. Only missing muffler and air cleaner.
yeah, thats what i thought too. i've seen restored examples of my Mac MC49 go for upwards of $2k.

$450 plus shipping?
A lot of coin to spend on a lump of non-operational aluminum.
Spend a couple hundred more and buy a new (larger) one.
Its a vintage racing motor from the 60's, a quite desirable little thing, running or not.

I had one of the original West Bend 820 mills.
Paid $12.00 brand new in the box around ~1968.
Reason for low price was the industry was switching over to 4 cycle engines.
I wanted no part of that stuff.
West Bend is still around and known for their aluminum cookware.

By the way... I collect (and restore) antique 2 cycle engines.
