Is there a way to keep the front tires from wearing out so fast , or is that Normal because it's such a simple set-up? Also yesterday we got the parts in from BMI hopefully we'll have it running by this week-end I am excited , I think more so than my grandson is , after all the kart is for him...NOT...:D

Maybe they aren't lined up perfectly? Maybe there is not enough weight on the front so the wheels start slipping across the street because they can't get grip. Maybe adding a bit of weight may fix this? However, you'll go slower...

Yup, fast tyre wear is usually due to bad steering geometry or weight distribution, like nodroz says

If you aren't having problems steering, and it is just the tyres wearing, and you are not too worried about buying new ones....then it is all good.

I know what you mean abouth THE KART BEING FOR THE GRANDSON. Nudge nudge, wink wink.....

Is there a "pattern" to the wear (inside edges, outside edges, centre) or all over?

The wear pattern will indicate what is wrong

It's all over the top of the tire , it wears out extremely fast , we have it as straight as possible , I am going to try a set of heavy duty tires from HF and see if those wear out any better,,,

U say all over the top

Do u mean in the centre of the tyre

That means the tyre is over inflated

Or just bad geometry
Do u have akerman in the steering
The steering arms on the spindles should tilt in a little

I do have an air compressor and I do pump it to the max...This is happening on the kart I bought last month ...For the new kart I WILL NOT pump it up as much and see how that works...:)

You said harbor freight tires? Most of there tires/rims/hubs are not worth crap on a go kart. If you have the HF dolly tires I would highly suggest you switch them for go kart specific tires/rims/hubs. The cheap tires wear out quickly and the rims/hubs are a safety hazard.
