Get a 2 cycle. You'll quickly learn why I gave up on the 4 cycle anchors years ago.
Their just too heavy and slow.
No floating valves and no need for heavy springs, billet flywheels, or rods.
My engines will easily turn over 6300rpm (under load) without breaking a sweat.

Not to mention the ease of maintenance or full-out teardowns & rebuilds that take minutes, not hours. I'm a fan of internal combustion in general, it's one of the greatest inventions of mankind and has changed the face of this world forever (along with electricity, the internet and the deep fryer!), but 2 strokes have that perfect balance of lightness, power and beautiful musical sound that makes them the perfect prime mover :drool5: I feel deeply saddened by the fact that within my lifetime, 2 strokes will fade away into obscurity due to emission laws and regulations :( So play with them & experience them as much as you can, while you still have the chance!

i heard somthing about the new 2-strokes being fuel injected to increase efficency.
Fuel injection helps a lot, direct injection solves the problem completely (well, almost). A good friend's brother-in-law is the master mechanic in the local Evinrude shop, we've had many discussions about the new ETEC direct injection engines and how they could be adapted to power other things. He says they run so clean that you can't smell the exhaust at all, and they frequently run them indoors for testing. They meet and exceed US EPA, Euro 3 and CARB 2 star emissions for power products (all of which are very strict). All this while making stupid amounts of power, like 300hp out of a 3441cc v6. That's 300 reliable horsepower! They're amazing machines, and a perfect example of the superiority of 2 stroke design. Evinrude's direct competitor in the outboard market is Mercury Marine, who have chosen to develop their 4 stroke technology since the late 80's. Their flagship 300hp 2.5L v6 weighs 120lbs more than the Evinrude, contains roughly 1000 more moving parts and is roughly 1/2 as reliable. See what I mean?
