Hi forum, so I was originally goingto buy a clone gx390 and a tc from America, it would cost around 1200$ all up, for engine, tc and shipping.
I have seen this,

The engine is twice as cheap, I know there reliable, a neighbour has one for a water pump and it's been submerged and abused and it still runs! Which is scary because he has know idea about maintaining motors. ( I was called over to change a spark plug on a dirt bike)
So the motors are reliable, they have a warranty and it has a 2:1 reduction which is good because my axle sprocket has 48 teeth. And I won't have to buy a Cent clutch
So I am checking if this is good ?

Hi, Looks like a good engine although it's only a bit over 1/2 the HP of GX390, also shaft is 20mm instead of usual 19mm or 25mm. Have you tried your local ebay ? there's usually some similar 6.5hp GX200 clones with clutch and reduction box out of China or GX390 clones ? got my 15Hp in Australia for about $320 there is also a Ebay guy who sells 40 series TC for $200 AUD might be able to ship to NZ

Thanks for the reply's, yea I looked at the link rocketkart just had bad experience with shipping that's all haha,
So the motor is allot cheaper, it will give me some more cash to spend on a neat frame,
Sorry about talking the talk and not walking the walk, my grandads coming from the uk in January and he is going to teach me how to weld, so I have till then to gather my parts for the build, :)
Also how long does the Cent C last on them? like with a normal lifespan, yeah I know there's tons of variables but just a number , I don't want to buy one if it will need replacing every month

Just a thought, you could save some $ by doing away with the electric start..

The recoil start only version is $475

Although it is nice to have, it does mean buying a battery & running wiring etc.

Yea I have thought about that but I prefer the eletric start just because you can start while sitting in the kart,
It's just preference I guess
I have around about 12 battery's in the garage now,
7 in working order and 2 deep cycle, So the 200-300$ on a decent battery has already been spent haha
Cheers for the reply though,
I am thinking of putting a cent c on the shaft,
And replacing at springs for really really low engagement, id rather wear out and external CC than an internal one

Yeah so I think using a 48 tooth sprocket on the axle and a 11-17 tooth on the shaft will work? I'm Looking at hillclimbing but have some long straights aswell

I would pass on it. It says crankshaft speed is 800-1800 rpm. If might be ok if you can gear it to 3 or 4 to one.

that's exactly what a 2:1 reduction box is made for;
have half the rpms but twice the torque ;)
So, yes 3:1 sprocket ratio is perfectly okay (it ends up being just the same as a 6:1 on an engine without reduction gearbox)

Would you say a 16 tooth sprocket on the motor shaft?

Honestly?
No, I'd go smaller and increase the ratio just a little more ...
say 14 or 15 on the wet clutch if you want a 48 on the axle...
just for a tiny little bit more torque for your hillclimbing thing ;)

top speed will be reduced by maye 2 or 3mph, with a smaller clutch sprocket;
but you gain quite an amount at takeoff, hill climbing and post turn acceleration :D
