well not really, because the carb was already clean. but once i get a dirty one, ill soak it in there and upload it lol. also, i learned that xylene is oily (obviously since its distilled from petroleum) and its not cold like acetone. so it evaporates slower.

Have you tried the 20 min. boil only with lemon juice? Or just that one time when you over soaked?

If you ever in a pinch though you can try the boil method and try again. I do not even scrube the carb at all. 20 min. and it's spotless. It also lets you do a carb job in about 35 min total so that can always help as well.

I also submitted a review, so lets see how many they actually display on their page

I just got an email back from home depot stating that my review has been rejected due to not following review writing guidelines.

I didn't use strong language or anything. I just pointed out that the product is indeed hazardous, and that the write-up of the product is incorrect.

Looks like they only want positive comments on their site

Someone should do one that looks just like a positive review but is actually a negative review........ummmmm yea I dunno how that would work. Maybe,

This product worked wonderfully when I needed to clean paint off my hands. It also removed a tattoo and some skin I no longer wanted.

hehe

input. The feedback you have provided is taken seriously and will be

Thank you again for bringing this matter to our attention.

This is the email I had sent, BTW-

Hello-
I have been a professional painter for more than 20 years and noticed
the following: Regarding the following product- Model # GXY24 Store SKU
# 231312, your website shows it as being "non-Toxic". You must remove
this statement. Xylene is quite toxic, and the statement is misleading
and dangerous. I'm not writing this to cause trouble- look up the MSDS
for Xylene and you will see. I'm sure this was a simple error, but needs
to be rectified. Thank you.

Ha ha. I see they have taken on the complaints received. I see Rustydog got his review placed as well. ;)

Imagine all the people that have bought it and assumed it was non toxic because of the ad. Americans likes suing people. Could you sue Home Depot for that unwanted skin and tattoo that you lost because of the misleading ad?

And, now I've gotten this:

Dear C. J. Brooks,

Thank you again for bringing the Home Depot website information regarding the toxicity of the Xylene product to our attention. The online information has been revised to reflect the correct information.

The Home Depot sincerely appreciates your business and we look forward
to continuing to provide your home improvement needs.

Sincerely,

Helen Jackson

I love this Xylene. You can use it for so many things. I made the switch and outlet plates in my house look brand new by removing them and wiping them down outside. Just a tip. Also, never wipe this stuff on painted parts of your engine, kart, etc because it WILL remove it.

Do yourself a favour- I wasn't kidding around when I took it upon myself to harass Home Depot. Xylene is a very potent solvent! There are four ways for a toxin to enter your body- Absorption, Inhalation, Ingestion, and Injection. Obviously, you're not going to drink it or inject it. Inhalation is solved by using with adequate ventilation (outside), but most people overlook absorption. This stuff WILL absorb through your skin very easily. Do NOT handle this stuff with bare hands- use nitrile or butyl gloves. Neurotoxins are not something to trifle with!

Consider this some free advice from someone who is well aware of the situation, has gobs of experience with industrial solvents, and is involved in Occupational Health and Safety.
