interesting boat outdrive

I just discovered Beavertail in the 2016 Cabela's catalog. I am very interested in the outdrives they sell on their surface drive units. I contact them and they do not sell the outdrive by its self, so- how do we go about building our own??

Well... they are more or less a fram in which the motor sits on or is attached to. they have a "Gearbox", in which a chain drive or clutch w/chain, CVT, or an actual F/N/R gearbox is attached to.....Some Also have a cutlass bearing in the main shaft to seal the gearbox.....
Google surface drives about the ones people have built....

They have long tail versions too. Pretty interesting. I have a 14ft aluminum boat I've been thinking might get the long tail version.

I have seen something like this before. A guy was hocking a book about all the many uses for old Briggs engines, one was how to make an outboard.
