Intek 190 Problems

Hey guys,

I payed 40 bucks the other day for a cateye pocket bike frame and a 6hp briggs and stratton intek 190 engine. The engine has a ton of problems... For one it doesnt start. The spark plug tht came with it didnt spark. also it was covered in oil at the tip. the next problem is that it leaks gas out of the float bowl. Then it is missing the whole air filter assembly and the throttle assembly looks to have been messed with and doesnt look stock at all. The next problem is that the OHV cover on the side has a hose that is not connected to anything. i think it goes to the carburetor but im not sure. Next is the part where the exhaust screws in to the engine is cracked. i tried to use JB weld to put the cracked part back on but it didnt work. It also didnt come with an exhaust.

I have not taken apart the engine yet so i dont know how it looks on the inside.

What i want to know is what are the things that i need to do get this engine running, and what parts should i buy.

Also if any of you have any parts for this engine that you could send me i would greatly appreciate it.

I should actually have most all the parts you need. I took apart one of these engines that chucked a rod. You'll need to send me pictures of what you need though. The exhaust usually doesnt screw into the motor on these.. 2 bolt flange.

The breather hose goes into the air filter elbow that you are missing. Spark plug should be an RC12YC Champion. Do you want stock linkage or are you going to make your own?

Also are you going to be giving me the pieces? you know, free. Or am i gonna have to pay??

hey i got a new sparkplug, made an exhaust, and i was able to get it to turn on by putting some gas in the spark plug hole.

I then tried just putting some through the carb how it should normally start and it didnt do anything. So i tried putting some more down the sprk plug hole and then i figured it would have to resort back to the carburetor to get more fuel and stay running, but it didnt and it just shut off.

So then i took off the carb, cleaned it with some carb cleaner and some wire. Got it nice and clean and then put it on the engine again. Through some gas in the tank and tried to start it and nothing happened. So i took off the spark plug, and it had some gas and oil on the end. I cleaned it off and put gas once more in the spark plug hole and put it back on, but this time it wouldnt fire. I pulled and pulled and nothing. So i went to go take the spark plug off again and i broke the little tip where the boot goes into off on accident. I was still able to remove the spark plug though. And thats where i sit as of now.

Im thinking i need a new carb because it doesnt take the gas into the engine. Also i need a new spark plug.

Does anyone know what my problem is?

if your carb is not mixing fuel and air just check your jet nd try to play with the throttle while your trying to start it
