Hey, i am thinking about a build for a drag racing go cart for on and off road.
my cousin is selling a inline 750 kawi motor that he has rebuilt.
and I was thinking that i could mount the motor on a single seater go cart frame and shorten the chain so i can attach it to the sprocket on the rear axle.
I have some old sport atv calipers and disks so i can put front breaks on.
Im going to use a single bucket seat with a 3 point harness. so that i wont fly out, and also for traction i was thinking ten inch slicks on the drive axle for traction. I plan on welding on some sort of a roll cage and reinforcing the frame if needed. is there anything i should know when i try to tackle this, or does anyone have any suggestions or input.:cheers2:

Ok well my cousi has the motor and he is rebuilding it and I have been thinking about this I think I have even thought of a way of creating a hand clutch and shifter mayb even using the kz gauges. I will send pics when I get home of the frame I have it's a pryty old crude design no suspension and it originally has a 3 or four horse lawn mower motor on it. It but I think I can fit this motor on and use some for wheeler rims with drag slicks for the back wheels

I just read that article and thank you
I was wondering what ways could I reinforce that frame, I am fairly skilled with a welder but I don't have the welder to weld aluminum or stainless. Could I weld angle iron to the frame? Would adding a roll cage distribute the stress more? Or should I just replace the old tubes with bigger diameter tubes?

My fear is that the frame will turn into a file of spaghetti since it came with probably 5% or less HP than you plan on adding.

That is a reasonable fear lol that's why I'm going to either they reinforcing or re tubing

Without seeing the frame in question, that's impossible to answer...

i know it looks like a pos but its honestly quite sterdy and i believe that is a 125cc motor on the cart, i want to add a roll cage and bolt in a aluminum seat with harness the structure is all aluminum i believe, rigid frame i need to put on bigger wheels and tires for traction probly banshee rims. but any ideas on how to reinforce this frame? and i also plan on repainting it and doing a overhaul on the cart.

Oh and I have breaks for this cart since my father and I buy and sell snowmobiles so I have 4 sets of breaks and calipers I can use for the cart so it can stop just as well as it can go
