Info on Chinese Conversion

New here so if this is the wrong place to post this just let me know.

I am out of the country at work and the wife just informed me that my son's SunL 4 wheeler will not crank again, I just had spent $140 having it fixed, yes I know:roflol: stupid! Anyway here is what I want or am going to do.

Pull the little 90cc piece of crap off!
Replace with a Briggs & Stration

As I am out of the country I can't give specs at this time what I am looking for is general info from anyone that may have done this. Info I am looking for.

This is a small frame and I want to do this with the minimum amount of mods possible, and it will be for a 7 year old boy, with that in mind.

Recommend a motor size. Note: Power and speed is not a concern, reliability and starting every time I pull on it is.

Will I have to change out the rear sprocket or will I be able to find a clutch sprocket to match it?

I see some here are converting these little pocket bikes so I am hoping yall can help. If more specific info is needed it will have to wait till I make it home next month.

Most likely you will need a new sprocket. The common clutch size for smaller engines (what you probably want) is #35 chain. If i were you i'd get something like a 3.5 briggs, maybe a 5hp tops. when your seven, a little power goes a long way.

Thanks I am not for sure but believe that sprocket unbolts from the shaft so I don't think that will be a problem other than finding one to match the bolt pattern.

No mention of a little MC engine or a sled engine...tsk tsk.

The 5hp on my minibike has the power to kick up the front when I slam on the gas. I'm 150 lbs too, so that engine has some bawls. I'd suggest a 3.5 briggs. The bolt patterns are the same...I think. So then engine upgrade will be a simple bolt on!

Granted I am not looking at it but if I remember right the little 90cc that is on there just has a bolt at the head and one at the rear to mount it in the frame, pretty sure I will have to mount a plate in the frame to mount the Briggs to or was you talking about the rear sprocket?

Once again thanks for all the input you guys are giving me with this.

Im sorry...i have failed...

What i didnt think of for him before was one of those 2.5hp clones, i think for a 7 year old that would be perfect. Plus there only $99, and i've seen it for $79 on sale, and im sure it can go down a lot more.

Side note:

I'm sure an arctic cat kitty cat sled engine would be pretty neat, 60cc fan cooled, has a governor im sure you could remove (since its limited to below 10mph stock), plus the sound of a nice sled engine is kick ***.

i see lots of broke china atvs and dirt bikes.
