Yes i have a 1999 modle club car golf cart and am converting it from electric to gas but the problem is i know next to nothing about small engines or gear ratios. Basically know nothing about the whole procces ecept how to put it all togeather. My problem is i dont know what engine or torque converter to get. Im working with 400$ on the engine. The cart will be more of an off road ( but not extreme terrain) cart and carring myself wife and son combined weight of roughly 300 lbs. Stock tires. I would like to know which engine would serve me better the dutomax 16hp or the predator 13. Plus what torque converter i need that aint expensive. I would appreciate any help i can get

Hello and welcome.
Off hand Im not that totally experienced with this machine. there has been a few people here with these and motor swaps.
All I have gathered, It isnt going to be cheap. You might just have enough for the motor, not the rear end or the TC/cvt.

the duromax and predator engines are the same for some reason duromax marks their engines up a few horses. predator is prob cheaper you can pick one up at hft and order a cvt from go power sports you will need a 40 series with a 1in drive heres a link to one https://www.gopowersports.com/40-series-torque-converter-kit-bolt-on-8hp-18hp/

and if you get the predator try your best to find the hemi version

CVT(A continuously variable transmission) or a TC(As know as a Torque Converter) is what is on a snowmachine or the like, a belted variable automatic transmission.
