ok heres the deal i got to motors recently

a honda gx 160 but someone has hand tappered the shaft to fit a smaller clutch and now when i put the new clutch on it spins like an unbalanced top. so i called can am and they said i need a honda pto shaft made for the gx160 and the gx200. so i need to know if there are any ideas on how i can fix this dicked up shaft and make the kart at least run, i want an off road, this kart sells for 1700 running of course so i wanna get it running so i could at least try to trade for a off road kart or get $600 which is what i feel the value of my trade for it was. please help

i also have a honda gcx160 the not good motor, and i need to know if there is anyway to get a clutch onto that motor and what size it may be i have no idea how to measure the diameter. please help i just wanna get this thing running so it has value and try to trade up or down at this point just anything different

You could use a pair of shims to increase the OD of the PTO. Some photos could help as well. This is what I did on my kart since I got a 1" ID TC and had a .75" OD PTO.

In my case here, gray is the clutch, Blue is the 2 shims, red is the key into the PTO, yellow/green is the clutch's internal key, and brown is the PTO. This can increase the OD of your PTO assuming it's not TOO messed up.

Do you have a lathe, or access to one?
If so, then you can repair the shaft, if not you have to be extremely skilled to now repair the shaft.
You need a gx160 shaft NOT a gx200 shaft. The gx200 shaft has more stroke and you would either need to machine parts or get a performance piston with lower wrist pin location to make it fit OK. Not for the unexperienced builder.

You can buy a new or used crank and fit it. Unfortunately they are not cheap. $35 gets you a used honda or a new clone one, $70 gets a new honda (IIRC). You are probably better off trying to find a gx160 parts motor.

GXC160? never heard of it sorry.
I would

At this point, you are best to just source a new (or used) GX160 crankshaft. Unless you have access to a machine shop, I would not suggest paying someone to do it. If it's that screwed up, there may not be enough material left on the shaft to machine it down to the next appropriate size. Your shaft is supposed to be 3/4". You could conceivably get away with 5/8"- but that's only 1/16" difference in the radius of the shaft. It's not likely to work out in your favour. Cost effectiveness is another consideration. How much will a machine shop charge you to make the attempt, likely with no guarantees- versus the cost of a replacement shaft. I'd just replace it.

My 2 cents worth:

Check the shaft in the other engine, you may get lucky. Do a google search for specs on both engines & look for the difference or just pull the other shaft out & fit it to the GX. The main things to look for are:
1. Big end journal size & end bearing size
2. Stroke
3. Length; both internal & overall

Basically, do a visual inspection of the two. If anything jumps out at you then it may not work. Look carefully as the difference may be minimal & subtle. Failing that, how bad is the second engine; is it a cheap fix or fubar?

My other idea is just go & buy a $100 predator
