i would STRONGLY advise a comet 40! its worth every penny! you pay for what you get, and with a cheap centrifugal clutch you get a cheap clutch! if this is a shifter kart then go for it but if its offroad then dont even dream of going up any hills with a centrifugal clutch

If it was a shifter kart there would be a motorcycle engine...with a transmission and wet plate manual clutch...

Other than that your right.

well i appericate everyones ideas but i have had only chain driven clutches and never had a problem with going up hills if the gear ratio is correct then there wont be any problems! the enforcer clutch is by no means CHEAP!!! with a price tag of 195$ im thinking its pretty expensive and is good for up to 40hp so i think my 11hp motor will work just fine

I got my comet 40 series for 200 lol rated for 18 hp and your lucky to get a gx390 (13hp) making 5 more hp from a stock engine lol let alone a gx340 from 11 hp to 18hp

no the enforcer can be bought for 40/41 chain only with a 10 tooth driver which is what i need to get my 7.1 ratio or i might go a little higher to 8.1 not sure but i will have the other gears so i can see which works better, im building a yard/road kart for my cousin and me.. im going to be installing a shifter engine when i find one that stirkes me as a good deal :) so this is temporary but none the less should be fun :p

i would go with baja, and get a torque converter. they are much better for off road, and have much better resale for when you buy that shifter engine

another great point there! you can find a comet 40 series for the same price as that enforcer and it'll hold its value unlike the enforcer whose price will just drop and be eventually almost worthless

A functioning 1" bore racing clutch like the Enforcer would still be worth $100 or so when sold used. (although most all kart racers would prefer a #35 over a #40/41 model) There's lots of racers that would buy a used clutch like this, but those guys would never even consider purchasing any Torque converter for most all classes of kart racing because centrifugal and disk race clutches have been proven to work out much better.

Chris, that is not enough information for us to work out a ratio from.
Please crearte your own thread answering these questions,
1. What terrain
2. What engine
3. What speed you are hoping for
4. What sprockets you already have (if any others
