hello everybody im new to karting, just picked up a couple of karts traded a ps3 for em .Ones a yerfdog 3203 2 seater and the others a murry kilowatt .they both need some work the yerf dog is missing the seat ,tc,jackshaft and chain, the kilowatt need some tlc my plan is to bring both of them back to life,i got them for trail riding and a lil bit of mudding but the kilowatt is missing quite a few parts and i know murry was bought out by briggs and then was discontinued so i will have to fab some stuff to make it work i plan to buy an engine from harbor freight but im missing the tc, jackshaft i plan on just running a centrifugal clutch straight to the axle on both of them, would this be ok with wat im planning on doing with them ?also the sprockets on the right side of the axle so i swapped the sprocket and the brake rotor on the axle but the motor plate bolts to the back of the frame so im gonna have to fab a new engine plate on the axle cage ,any advise would be greatly appreciated

The karts came with TC's for a reason. If you want to use them for offroading, then I would suggest at least a 8:1 or 9:1 gearing. This means you will need something like a 80T rear sprocket and a 10T cent clutch. This is not really realistic because of ground clearance issues, so you will probably need to install a jackshaft to use smaller sprockets.

Those are some nice looking project carts, deff go with a torque converter instead of a centrifigual clutch, you'll be much happier with it.

Just a heads up; 8hp is a borderline. Some have 3/4" shaft, others have 1" shaft. It's also the borderline for CVTs & clutches, the larger of which are more expensive.

K thanks for the heads up,If I run a 6hp with tc and the right sprocket do you think it will be enough for trail riding and some light mudding ,ive already got a briggs 206 on the red one if itll work then ill probably buy 212 predator from harbor frieght if not ill sell the 206 to get something bigger.

Yes, but, the big question is, what size sprocket...

If it already has a 6hp on it, use it. It looks like it already has a large enough axle sprocket
