Got this nice manco scorpion , it needs a belt but it is in really good shape. it runs great but now it wont pull, I havnt pulled the torque conv off yet , but the driver is working properly, when I give it gas the driver slides and tightens the belt but the torque conv slips. It will pull a little but I have to work the gas and now it seems really not pull at all. I havnt torn into yet because I like to know what I am working on first. you can spin the converter by hand witht he engine off. I really want to get this thing goin for my boy but don't wanna drop 200 bucks if I can help it. Thanks,

We are definately going to need some pics. Follow the maintenance sticky instructions as well to give it a clean. These things are pretty much bullet proof and can generally be fixed pretty easily. Your springs might be shot

Ok , I got it too pull now, I had to tighten it some, but now when your on pavement it jerks and barks the tires, It will take off but it jerks pretty hard. I don't think it would do it in the grass , but still it isn't quite right. I took it all apart and cleaned it with brake clean, put a little grease on the keyway.

I do need a new belt too.

If your old belt is shot, that can only worsen the situation.

Are you sure that you cleaned the TC properly. Follow the instructions in that sticky.

Please also be advised that unless you have a unit/backplate that the TC bolts up to, then you need a specific distance for the belt that you have.

Have a look at the links I posted again to get the center to center distances between the driven and driver, and then order the belt for that distance. You cannot mess up doing that, cos if you do the TC will never work properly

EDIT: Pics of your TC would help us a lot

I cleaned it properly. Brake cleaner and wire wheel. The belt was missing a couple teeth and I didn't see this. I order a Kevlar belt from ebay and now she pulls like a dream. These are well made carts. Now I am wanting to do some mods. Id like to have more low end rather than top speed. I read somewhere that the 5959 belt will NOT be able to be installed without taking the torque conv off , but mine slips on. I ordered the belt by the model number on the frame plate. What I would like to find out is how old this buggie is. Thank you for your help . she is a blast.
