idle problem help!!!

il try the gasket maker 1st ,i took out the old gasket and put some gasket maker into the groove and then i placed the old 1 down on that ,im just wondering is the gasket maker fuel proof ?

i can still drive but i have to keep the revs up abit or else it will cut out ,is it bad to drive it the way it is now?

1) Use a fuel-resistant gasket cement. Other than that, who knows? That's like painting your car with water-based house paint. You're on your own...

2) I don't think you're going to hurt it, but wouldn't you just rather fix it? Dunno about anybody else, but I prefer my junk to run right...

If you're talking about the bowl gasket again, you're likely best to buy one.

Some do. Many have reported good results in simple applications like crank gaskets. I personally use proper fibre gasket material, which I buy by the sheet and cut to fit.

Any gasket is better than a broken gasket.

Just to be clear, I'm not endorsing the use of plain cardboard as a replacement for OEM parts, more of a substitute. Sometimes (especially at this time of year) it can be difficult to get the genuine article so, you use the next best thing.

Also, there's nothing worse (IMO) than spending money on parts only to find out that the problem still exists when you can use a free substitute to rule out a problem

learn something new every day. i use the sheet stuff too. i need it get one of those multi size hole punches. holes are a pain. sorry for wandering off topic.

FWIW- I have a set of leather punches I use for gasket making. Line it over the hole location on a block of wood, and tap with a hammer. Perfectly sized round hole every time.
