Toystore has explained the condition perfectly. As of now, it seem that the governor is not allowing the butterfly to competly return to idle. I can take the idle screw completely out and the idle will only drop to a certain (I'd say 1200rpm's or a little higher) rmp unles I physically close it. I won't be able to test this theory completely until I remove the air cleaner play and make sure my throttle control isn't causing interference. Once I'm able to rule it out then it can only be the governor or a improper aligned throttle control from the factory. If that is the case, I'll pack it back up and take it back to hf under warrant and try another one. However, it possible it's my throttle hookup that might be the problem as I never tried to adjust the idle until I had everything mounted and hooked up.

Yep- eliminate your own work before condemning the governor linkage. I had that happen- it turned out that the factory return spring didn't have enough pull to allow the "hand" throttle lever to return to the idle position once my cable and pedal were attached. I added my own spring to the linkage. Worked out perfectly...

Come to think of it- perhaps that's your issue? Try disconnecting your remote throttle and see what that does...

Was able to work on the kart today and got it all figured out. The throttle spring under the gas tank was to tight. Stretched it out a little and all is good. Took my daughter for a spinn on it and we both came back with brown teeth from all the power slides and 180's. We were laughing so hard it was hard to keep our mouths closed.

lol, sometimes it is the simplest, stupidest thing.

Which in my case is usually me!
A lot of good advice in this thread - when I first started in the wrenchin' bidness many moons ago, the shop owner told me "The biggest mistake most people make is over-thinking things. Always check the simple stuff first and make sure it's not something you did".
Amazing how many times we forget that.
