This guy is near my office and I love it, thick green canopy in the summer then as a good deciduous it sheds its leaves, I’d like to plant at the new house!


if you haven't noticed the reason why it is called cottonwood on your side of the pond yet..
its NOT cottonwood
or you haven't seen it in spring ...
this stuff's nasty.

maybe some other type of poplar? we mainly have the skinny variants here in europe (you know those tall skinny trees you see on italian paintings alot)
but there are black poplar trees (dark'ish bark) with a wide canopy..
look around on trees of the "populus" branch (hehe pun intended)
since it surely is one of those (populus -> poplar)

Only the female cottonwood produces the cotton. So If you have never seen the cotton, it is probably because its the male tree.
