Hello, I am new to karts and definitely not a mechanic. But, I cleaned the carb on many mowers and have had good success.

So, I picked up a used Yerf Dog with Tecumseh OHH60 6hp. Anyways, I cleaned the carb and adjusted everything. But, the ideal mixture screw was turning on its own. Then I took it for a ride and when I let off the gas it died.

During inspection I realized that the ideal mixture screw rotated out and is now missing.

The guy gave me a spare carb so I cleaned it and put it on, same thing happened. Screw missing after one ride. :)

1. Why is this happening?
2. Should there be a plug holding it in?

Is this a part I can buy or should I buy a new aftermarket carb and where's the best place & what brand.

Thanks in advance for your help.

What he^ said.....it's almost nearly mostestly mostest likely....that the "idle screw" was indeed a pilot jet....which is meant to be screwed all the way in....and is not adjustable....just the fact that the carb was even working without it being screwed down tight....means the carb was probably still dirty and fuel starved.....

So.....good news , bad news, those carbs are pretty ****le and temperamental.......good news....you can get a whole new one for about $20 or so online.....

EDIT: I can't believe that word was censored ^ it started with an "F" ....but that only replaced the "P" in pickle? ????

Yes Russ, that work is on the censored list... you can blame Doug for that one :lolgoku:

Like I give a flick....if flickle (****le) is censored....but why blame me.....if we didn't have Tecumseh carbs....we wouldn't even need the word......WAIT!!!!

I forgot about women and politicians.....:lolgoku:

EDIT: I guess the editing software is just fikkle..... or maybe that's a bad word somewhere else in the world....

photo of carb missing screw

Hello, Here is the requested photo of the carb. My finger is pointing at the spot the screw was In.

Yes, the screw or needle is what Russ posted.

Can I just by (2) new ones somewhere? I don't mind buying a new carb as well but, I have (2) cleaned and ready to go carbs without that screw.

P.s. It sounds like I created this problem myself by not making that screw tight. I thought I needed to leave it 1 to 1 1/2 turns out. I thought it was an idel mixture screw.

My own stupid mistake for not knowing what everthing was or did Before I messed with it.

Thanks again

I doubt it. I don't have any money. I didn't know there was a swap meet in Decatur next weekend....I thought that was in February.....

I will be attending the GoPowersports swap meet on the 30th in Keller.....
