I'd like to add reverse any ideas how?

See if you can get an outboard motor, in the leg of the outboard there is usually a set of good quality gears which do forward and reverse. Probably the cheapest idea, but may be hard to put on if your kart is already built.

This is a big talking point with the mini buggys

The most common solution is to use a starter motor from a car

There is a Subaru one that is common but not sure which one

U can get teeth cut into the brake disc
Then run the motor to it

If u are using an e start motor then u are half way there

Even the price of machining and a brand new starter it is cheaper than a FNR box

:wai: Tiller that has reverse. As the reverse works off the cam, there are two belts with an idler that kicks forward drive out, when switching to reverse. An no there is not two crankshafts.

would a lower unit from an outboard work well for a fnr gearbox? if i got it to run off a chain to the box off my torque converter then a chain from there to my rear sprocket?
