It really depends on where your a mechanic. I was considering going into that field but decided that id rather go into marine restoration and repair.

Restoration or hot rodding is great if you really want to do some proper stuff, work with the imports (ie Silvias, Skylines ect. I hear Civics are popular in America?) is usually just bolt on stuff. The only real skill needed imports that is engine building, but that's left to the engine builders (oh, and tuning, so many imports are way out of tune).. Restorations and hot rodding usually involves a lot of fabrication that goes anywhere from rust repairs to making your own cylinder heads. Hot rodding these days is pretty much restoration plus mods.

This is very true, my Dad wrenches for Kia now and they just replace entire engines and transmissions. If you REALLY want to learn how to turn wrenches find somebody 40+ years old.

Yep, however, those engines probably go off to the engine builders and put right then go into a different Kia with a blown engine. That's what most companies do. Easier for them than continuously producing, packaging and shipping new engines, keeps the government happy too.

I suck at computers software-wise. I'm more into their hardware:)

Same! My first computer had 4 times more ram than it left the factory with, still had the basic windows 2000 though :roflol:.

Thanks

Hayden

sorry i said nothing i was camping, i was just thinking of getting something that needs some moderate work and then do what it deeds to have done.then i could just sell it (or drive it in 2 years) i would get something older and my dad has most of the tools i would need. and that garage apprenticeship doesn't sound like a bad idea either.
