Those are really useless vids.
I seriously don't know what the heck he was doing... And especially with what ever he welded on the sprocket...

MkIV- I'm sorry I don't understand? Can you clarify please.

I remember when I was young my neighbor had a mini bike with two speed clutch mechanism and been thinking about the fun we had. Now with the torque converters and all available I see no benefit or unless you control the engagement and shifting. Not an automatic shift based off of RPM's like the old days. How about a jackshaft with two manual clutches. Burn outs, great launce and even top speed.

yes that pic was the inspiration. I haft to put the chains on and find some rear tires and its ready to test. Just the sprocket I pictured earlier, some pillow blocks , shaft, ect.

Ran out of chain and no tires so tractor supply run tomorrow and ill post a riding vid.

I think your going to need some more support for the output shaft... Looks like you have 6-8" of unsupported length.... That might bend as soon as you hit the gas.

What are the ratio's you are using?

It is holding up so far, not the best way but it got it working.

engine 15t, jackshaft 1 input 15t,

clutch one 10t , overrunning sprocket 22t

second gear is 10t to 10t

output is 10t to 45t,

13in tires

I got it to hit second gear but going downhill the second clutch tries to engage but cant, so I need to weaken the clutch springs or overdrive the input shaft with a bigger motor sprocket. When it dropped into second it moved lol. Some fine tuning and it will be awesome.

Add some Spikes to that extra long axle Too.

I got to excited and wanted to test it, no time to hack it off.

Update

Sprag bearing failure. cracked the inner race.

I bought $4 ebay units so I should have expected this. I shall order some proper quality versions.

While it lasted, 1st gear I am guessing goes 10-15mph, then it hangs for awhile, then the motor rpms drop and you start going to idk 30. The clutch needs to engage lower. The shift is so much more satisfying than a torque converter. So I am happy. Anyway I will paint and fix up the rest of the cart.

Cant wait to see it tuned and working properly.

I would of expected it to overrun the Low around 17-20 mph if both clutches are set to engage around 2k rpm?
