Hi all,
I joined about a week back, but never professionally introduced myself, so here it goes!
First of all, I've been here for just 6 days, but already love it. The strong sense of community, and family while still helping, is amazing. It's like having that know it all uncle who actually knows all...:lolgoku:
I'm 14 and from CT. My whole family is very into cars, and I've grown up working on/around cars my whole life! However, I've never been aloud to get anything motorized until now! A couple months back I traded a non running 1968 AMF Homko ride on mower for a mini bike that was running. The mower was actually pretty sweet, 7hp B&S Easy spin motor on a mini mower that weighed all of 100lbs at most. The only reason I was even aloud to trade was that the mini bike was "easier to throw out":lolgoku:... and it was supposed to be slow with the 3hp. The mower was manual (R,1,2,3) and my dad use to let out the clutch to fast (purposely) so he could wheelie it. Some good times on that thing... Annnyyyway, It needed an ignition coil because the mice got to it. I wasn't aloud to throw a dime at it even with my own money (Because, direct quote "That thing is a PIECE!!"). So Craigslist barter section it went. Some guy made a 3hp B&S Mini bike for his son, which ended up being to big for the 7 year old. The minibike was a no name but was geared well, had a disc brake on the sprocket, and some really, really nice paint. I hit 28mph on that thing, and then ran out of room. It probably had 35mph in it. I wish I counted the teeth on the clutch and axle... It had no bog and went very fast. Parents said "I don't want you on two wheels! Too dangerous!!" I wish I could have that thing back but I wouldn't pay how much I got for it, even if I could lol. I think my parents felt bad (Just for the record I am not at all spoiled or anything close to that!), so they compromised and said I could have a Go Kart... I looked for about a month and this one wasn't even to my liking, but at the price it's at, I couldn't resist... and it's growing on me. Not a bad summer, I must say...

It's good to know that some new members feel that way :lolgoku:

Don't worry, inside joke from before your time here...

this one wasn't even to my liking, but at the price it's at, I couldn't resist... and it's growing on me.

I don't know what's wrong with your eyes but, it looks pretty sweet to me :lolgoku:

Welcome. They all look like fun toys. Customizing your go kart is one of the beginning stages of hot rodding.

EVERYONE: I'm going to try to answer everyone's questions here. The reason I wasn't so crazy about this one is that I was looking for more of a street kart. It will be really only used on my street. And if I was gonna get an off road kart it would be higher than 5hp, have better suspension, a one seater, etc. etc. etc.

firemanjim: Just a mini bike in general? There's like thousands on my local craigs...

davidbooth1991: Thanks! It's a Subaru Robin 126cc 5HP. I think like an older version of the ex13... Yeah, I loved that mini bike, wish I still had it. Also It was pretty homemade, besides the frame... no one ever worked the kinks out on it... It broke at least once a week for the first 4 weeks.:lolgoku: The only shocks it has are two 1.5 inch tall springs in the front...

Gran Pann: Thanks! Yeah it's only a 5 horse... When I got it it was missing the whole jack shaft. I have bought everything needed for the jack shaft except the big jack shaft sprocket which is in the mail. It came with a jack shaft from Manco when it was new. It's not a live axle.

Fabroman: Yeah... Read what I said at the top of this post (top of this post,NOT the top of the thread:lolgoku:)... I like it though!

2SlickNick:Thanks!

ML-TOYS: Oh Yeah!!

EVERYONE: My dad's friend has 2 race karts, one with a 3.5hp Tecumseh and one with an 11 horse B&S Alcohol motor. Both have been sitting under a tarp for YEARS. The Kart I have right now is really for me and my 11yo brother... it would be nice to have two so I don't have to share.:lolgoku: But yeah, the plan was to get those, and then we decided as a family that we have a lot of stuff coming up. Things like college a year from now for my 17yo brother, a move coming up, etc. etc. So those karts were put on hold until at least January. Why does your family matter, you ask? Because I need my dad's help and he'll be occupied with other things:(. So, this is kind of a "for now" go kart that I have. And no, I will not be actually racing them.

ML-TOYS: Thanks! To be honest, my grammar and all are pretty awful, I just spend a long time reading and rereading my posts to make sure they're not TO bad. I'm sure you could still find tons of grammar mistakes if you tried.

Nope....not what we are talking about at all Young gun. ....it's the content and the attitude that makes you come across as twice as mature as many other members much older don't. ......

This is 99% of the time....because you have been raised right......tutored in the proper way to deal with your elders, peers, teachers, strangers, and those peers that will drag you down to their level......

This is important stuff.....way more important than punctuation. ...or grammar....... (heck....I got tired of grammars pecking on me.....so I wacked her over the head and buried her in the ruut sellar)......JK......Sorry.......sometimes I just can't help myself. .....

I'm just scared how stupid you are going to make me look in a few years. ...
