So in my Super Jew! (DurDurDurDURRRRRRR chingching) ways I found an AWESOME deal I couldn't pass up! The one bike that no one ever wants in their life, no parts are available for, and just aa god awfully ugly scoot... one 1979 Honda CB650. It also came with a crapton of free scrap so I was technically paid $59.64 to claim the bike for keeps. So in my curiosity I just wanted to see if thing thing breathed fire out of the proper orifices or if I'm gonna have some battle scars to explain during my next late night encounter. I choked the thing out along with myself of some ether, hit the start button, and after a couple pops it shot about a 5ft firestorm out of the carbs. (Adjusted timing which fixed the old fashioned bun warmer). SO today I just decided hell with it. If I'm gonna invest my time in this might as well do it right. So after fighting to get the carb assembly off for about 3hrs, they managed to set themselves free and made their way onto my table. What I saw I literally made me throw up in my mouth a little bit. This is how I scored it (1-4 is Right to Left in the pictures)
Carb 1: Not Horrible
Carb 2: Seen some abuse but manageable
Carb 3: Well I see why you're the favorite cylinder!
Carb 4: HOLY BLEEPIN BLEEEPITY BLEEP HAPPENED TO THIS BLEEPING POOR BLEEPIN BLEEP!

My reaction was obviously warranted. So... Any naysayers want to share why I shouldn't slap some Mikuni 30mm on this heap and improve?

ah c'mon ... nothing a bit of soda blasting couldn't solve..
followed by some ultrasonic bathtub action and I bet it's fresh gaskets and you're done.

I thought about blasting them but then I found Mikuni makes a dual carb setup for the 550, 650, and 750. I'm not gonna pay $630 for 2 carbs and some fancy tubing especially when I have a TIG welder of my own. And where these aren't CV carbs unlike the '80-83 I don't have to worry about stupid certain ways things work. The kit comes with 34mm carbs but you can get the chineseum 34mm carbs for $40 a pop. Some minor ingenuity, a custom throttle cable, and we're golden. Also makes Syncing SOOOOOOO much easier. Also I can guarantee that my product would look better than these kits. Common sense on air flow wasn't exactly brought into these equation here.

So stupid question, but without special tooling, how do you sync dual carbs?
with a bit of clear tube and a few squirts of engine oil ;)
oh and a 2x4 to tape the tube to.

same for three, four or six (eight or twelve...) carbs
you only need to add a few T-connectors to combine all tubes to one closed system.

I don't see what's wrong with your carbs. I wish I had pics of mine but basically they were full of corrosion enough so that all the floats were stuck. I have had all the bowls soaking in carb cleaner for around a month now and they are looking pretty good. anything is salvageable!

If I didn't throw them into the woods from rage I'd take pic of the #4 Jet thread tube literally turning into powder and the broken float pin mount thing on #2. And I can't even use anything if I don't have #2 because that one has the accelerator pump. This would be a good excuse to try a Rotax 1330 or 904 if the frame wasn't tweaked. Didn't catch it before but they managed to twist the tree neck which puts the bottom of the front wheel like 3" off centerline. Not even worth repairing.
