So to fill in the gaps for you guys.

We bought a clay pigeon chucker. It runs on 12v and throws random directions. It pretty cool. It has a long cord for the trigger button.

Well, the problem is we can't do anything normally.

We want to set it out and throw AT us sometimes. A draw of straws for the guy who has to stand down range to hit the button. Hiding behind a makeshift bunker or something.

Anyways they sell a remote switch but they want 300 beans for it.

A wireless doorbell would probally do the trick but the range is under 50 feet. We want a range of like 50 yards.

Any of you hackers have any ideas or is there a product out there I'm not seeing?

A gate or garage opener, but the range might be limited... Might be able to get some kind of acuator or the like from/for a drone, from a RC shop...

Also, what is the machine brand??

I was doing some google-fu and found lots of cheap transmitters but the range was really limited. I did find one that said 500 ft but it was a latching type. One button turned on and another button for off. I need a momentary.

I don't remember the model of the chucker. It's new and I personally only saw it in the box as it came to the shop. It's out in a hangar now till the next time we go shoot. I have missed the past few outing cuz life gets in the way.

All its gotta do it trip the relay but from far.

you'd also want this to be at least somewhat secure..so that you do net get the next teapot thrown in your face when your reloading it only because the neighborkit got a new fancy drone with some hefty remote ;)

Sure no need for AES encrypted datatransfer, but at least not a regular remote
and that's likely why they charge 300 bucks already :(

Anyways, you have another one to pull the trigger next to you?
then I'd say get a TV B Gone set ... yes I know it's a IR remote to shut down nearly every TV..
BUT there's a "monster" version out there.. 50 yards.. no problem I'd say!
you only need to hack up an infrared receiver pointing in your vague direction,
that can be soldered up for pennies really...
and if you set up said receiver to only accept a ... let's say "samsung TV" Off signal
you can be nearly certain, that there's no false trigger signal (what are the chances ;))

Overall cost ~10-20 bucks (if you buy kits off the internet) and it takes maybe half an hour to solder and set up.

PS a 100yards spool of phone wire is not an option I assume ;)
talking about phones... if you want to get fancy, you can hack any old mobile to trigger..
just wire the trigger to the ringer module and call it.... I know stupid.. but "phone" triggered that idea.. so yeah :D

I could whip something up pretty quick probably. Million ideas running through my head right now.

#1. What about cheap laser pointer as trigger. Then a simple photo diode in a tube (so sun doesn't trigger) and 5V wall wart or 9v battery for power. couple resistors and a relay. shine lazer button is pressed (relay is pressed) thats just a quick simple idea.

#2. next thought! get an ESP8266 ($3 wifi module) can use arduino IDE to program and then wall wart battery and relay plus resistors. and then write application for phone to trigger relay. (web based app would work)

#3. ahahahahah. 50 yards of wire!!!!! here is 2 100ft rolls should be enough of speaker wire. https://www.amazon.com/Speaker-Gaug...486793575&sr=1-5&keywords=200+ft+speaker+wire and a switch!

#4 alliexpress!!! cheap and all things gadgets. here is what you need https://www.aliexpress.com/item/New...lt&btsid=b6b3e8da-56f3-4f08-bf05-80e7e085f851 someones says 30-150 meters on this device. depending on line of sight etc etc.

I would look into a Bluetooth relay, they have a range of 100 meters and can be set up for monetary switch, it is controlled by an app on a phone and already runs on the same 12v that the thrower runs on. What type of control is the switch is it just a simple touch the two wires together and it launches or is it a fancy multi wire switch set up? If it is the simple two wire switch just power the Bluetooth relay, run one side of the switch wire on the in and the out and soon as the relay closes it will launch. Might be able to rig up a Bluetooth button for the trigger as well if not you will have to use someones phone.
