so it appers that my current 5hp briggs has a worn crankshaft bushing. my friend is selling a briggs 5hp for 50 dollars. running. it was made in 83. mines is 95. the only problem with it is the crankshaft is only about an inch long. i was thinking i could swap the crankshafts but if i was going to remove the crankshaft i might as well just replace the bushing in mine. i was still thinking about buying it and changing the crankshaft at a later date but do you think it would be worth it to swap crankshafts?

If the bushing is worn it is likely the crankshaft is too. If you can wait about 2 weeks (I am moving) I have 2 or 3 of those 5hp Blocks. I will let you have them for cheap. I have many parts that I don't need for those 5hp engines including cams and crankshafts. Send me a PM if your interested. If it were me, id buy that 5hp for $50 and repair your current one. Thats a good price and if it runs as is already don't tear apart.
