Hey guys,
I just picked up a go kart yesterday. It appears to be a variant of the "Spider 200 Buggy" or "KD-200GKA" or apparently the "Coleman 177cc" from Runnings.
Its clearly got a tired GY6 buried in the back but the only number I was able to pull off of it was "JL0909-29C" on the bottom of the engine near the oil drain plug, which indicates...nothing to me so far. there is a "GY6" cast into the side of the crank case though, with no plastic ducting around the engine. I was told its a 200cc but can't find any "200cc" rebuild kits, just a mess of "125, 150, 170, 180, 232". This is all compounded by the fact that I cannot locate anything on the frame that even hints at a VIN. I checked a few sites out to see VIN locations on the Kandi and similar versions. No VIN is on the passenger side of the frame below the seat. Nothing on the driver side, front or rear. Nothing behind the seats on the bar. The only clue I have is the original keys have Chinese characters on them so if I can get enrolled in a language course I may find it just says "KEY".
I will be adding photos to aid in my request. Got home too late for daylight and won't subject you guys and gals to nighttime flashlight shots.
Right now the clues are the markings on the keys and the fact that the swing arm has a protective cage welded all around the engine from the factory instead of a removable one like the Kandi seems to have. Its got an insanely thick layer of teal blue house paint brushed over everything which may be obscuring a shallow stamped VIN. Tried scraping a little bit with a razor to see if I uncover anything, but its just rusty bars everywhere I look.
I need to start finding parts but I don't even know what I have- or if there's any differences between the versions over the years. The PO told me "-its similar to the one at Runnings. You got one of those near you?" (I do. Its awesome.)
Anybody familiar with these rigs? Planning on more extreme modification in the future, but right now its for me and the girlfriend to put around on in the woods and I'd like to get it back to a serviceable condition.
