i just bought an old school racing kart. it os missing thr front left brake drum. seller also claims that this is a husqvarba 125cc engine. the head is off right now. the inside of the piston hole has some rust. well pretty much all of the engine has some rust. would it be worth to rebuild and if so where can i find parts especially for the brakes

Show us some pics of the whole kart. Looks very interesting and maybe someone can positively ID it and the engine for parts sourcing.

And stop taking vertical photos already...https://www.outsideonline.com/1925801/stop-taking-vertical-photos-already  :p

I think your engine was made by company called IAME Komet. They made serveral different models over the years, but I think yours might be their Komet K55 model. You could take a look through these pics and compare to yours: https://www.google.com/search?q=kom...mAGIHKjwORm7r4CA#tbm=isch&q=IAME+komet+engine

This shop has a lots of vintage racekart parts for sale:

They don't list all their parts on their site, you'd probably need to call/email with the dimensions of your brake drum and ask if they have the type you need.

hard to tell what engine it is without being able to see the crankcase tbh..
(you too the image from the wrong perspective)

For now I'd say it's a Komet K35 (iame engine)
Although the crankcase looks more (from what little I can see)
to be an Atlas 15 [still a iame engine] or a Parilla TT65 [also iame]

So all I can say for sure: it's a IAME engine from the eighties.

brakes.. again why the wrong angle (as if one is able to tell from the rusted disc...)?

IDK impossible for me to tell really,
but since it's a iame engine from the eighties, chances are it's a Grimeca brake

'sid
[EDIT]

Ha too late... note to self: "stop googling brakes already" LOL
Thanks anderkart K55... right... dang I should've noticed the round feet :(
