what is a good transmission for a go kart? i saw a thread about a 2 speed transmission and i wanna know how that works..

Its not really something most people would want to go through. A CVT would yield similar results.

i understand all of that. and the transmission would be classified as "automatic" i guess because there was a cent clutch that had two chains on it, then one connected to a jackshaft and another to another cent clutch on the same jackshaft
