Sooo, I bought the wrong socket thinking it was the right one, I decided to use it anyways and I grinded the teeth. So can I just grind a line, then use a torque wrench as shown in the photo and call it a day? 20250411_215433.jpg

Have you tried a 12 point socket of the right size? I doubt your plan there will work. Do you really want to run that with hacked up bolts that may not get torked correctly?
I would buy a coupla sockets and tap them on with a hammer if necessary. That is not an area where you want to half azz it together.
Get some new bolts and the correct socket. When rods come apart it gets real ugly.

If you were working on a "stock" engine...maybe
...but, working with an arc billet rod, seems to indicate that you're NOT working with a "stock" engine...so, IMO NO

My pappa always said..."If your gonna do something
...then, do it right"

The correct socket that you need is a 12 point x 1/4". It will be for a 1/4" drive ratchet ( or torque wrench ) which is what your picture looks like you have. I don't think the bolt heads are so messed up that the socket won't work. If they are so bad that it doesn't work, buy new ones. The bolts that come with the rod are made by ARP bolt Co. I believe they are in Oxnard California. DON'T replace them with common hardware store bolts. They will most likely fail.

I messed the bolt up on a new ARC billet rod.
I did not want to spend the money..... but I ordered a new rod ,,, and had piece of mind after I installed the new one.

Worst case get an "extractor" set and remove the galled bolts. Replace with OE bolts as Pancho so eloquently suggests.

You rounded it off, that's how we say it. You rounded off the corners of the screw/bolt head. It happens all the time on rusty nuts, but usually not on purpose. But I like your style of "I decided to use it anyways". 😂

If you're German, just know that I expected better of you. Germans are the proverbial best mechanics in the world. 🔧😢

I kid, I kid. I make joke!

Damn I completely forgot about this thread, in the end I did the same thing, bought one of those 3.308 ebay rods with the allen bolts. And by the way I tried the grinder method and it didn't work 😭. Lesson learned: get the right socket
